i've only recently heard it being advertized; however an old client of mine (he moved to HI.) had it done. it looked great after about 5 or 6 treatments, but had to wait at least 6 months between treatments. he had to be very careful of his stitches because he sweats a lot and it would become infected.

the way his was done (take into concideration this was over 10 years ago) was a one inch section (of skin and hair) was removed from the back, a slice was made on the top for the one inch section to be placed. then the back was pulled down and stapled or stitched.

I wouldn't do it right now for a couple reasons. The first is if you have started losing it already your going to be in bad shape by the time your twenty five. The second reason is the cost. I've heard it's like $50.00 a hair. That may be wrong, it stopped me. Heath insurance will not cover it. Last if you do the Rogain thing and make it till your 25 or 30 you may only have to do it once instead of two or three times.

Don't worry, you shouldn't expect to see results until 3 - 6 months after the procedure. I too had a hair restoration and didn't notice any results until about 3 months after. Now it's been 5 months and I am seeing very significant results.

my teacher just explained the transplant our class and it has good results depending on you health, such as stress in your life and things of that sort, but the hair is taken from the occipital area of the head (around the sides and back nape area) which is where hair will always grow for men, the hair growth takes about 4 months and she said the new transplanted hair falls out and regrows permanently. Lots of famous men have it done and you can't even tell.

Great questions! I had hair transplant 18 months ago and could not be happier with the results. To answer your questions:

1. After your transplant each hair will react differently. Some will continue to grow, some hair will fall out of the follicles and go into a resting stage. You can expect to see significant growth around 6 months, at 9months you will be extremely happy with the amount of growth you have had and you should see about 95% growth by 1 year.

2. It is very important to chose your surgeon very carefully for this. Some doctors are much better at their scars and you should ask to see former patients pics of not only the transplant but of the scar. My doctor specialized in thin (1-2 mm) scars and she uses a technique that encourages the remaining hair in back to grow through the scar to help hide the scar.

3. 5000 dollars should get you about 1000 hair grafts by today's average price. Some doctors charge upwards of $10/graft but there are some good doctors that charge about $5/graft(that is what I paid) I couldn't tell you if it will give you enough coverage because I don't know what your head look like. I.e. the degree of hair loss you have had.

I think what it comes down to is finding a great doctor that you trust and has proven his or her work in the industry.

it usually takes about a month for the transplanted hairs to start to grow. The follicle has to establish a blood supply then it starts growing. There could be a scar at the back of the head which could be visible with a very short haircut. Usually it is a pencil thin scar and fades with time. The slits made for the transplanted hair on top will also appear a bit red for some time but also fades as time goes by. My guess is that it will cost you about 10,000 dollars to get a decent level of densisty. Maybe two transplant sessions.

The hair grows from a tube like depression in the skin called a hair follicle. The diameter of the hair follicle is determined by heredity and cannot be changed at any point in your life. It is unfortunate that you have spent so much time trying to alter something that will never change. The only remedy would be to alter your thinking. Long tresses are not for fine hair, shorter choppier cuts will release the weight of your locks and therefore they will have more body. Try a cute bob like Cameron Diaz, experiment with body waves, score better professional products specifically for fine hair. Do whatever you can, life is too short for this type of agony.

I have had 2 hair transplants. the 1st one was small and expensive with fair results. the 2nd surgery was much better- big surgery, less expensive, great results. the donor hair is taken (i.e. removed) from the back and then diced up into the tiny grafts for going to the top of the head where you are balding. the part removed from the back is sewn (?sp) back together so there isn't a big missing patch. my 2nd doctor removed the scar i received from the 1st surgery (smaller surgery- bigger scar...go figure) when he was getting the hair for his surgery. no hair grows in the area where the scar is, but you can't tell because the scar is just a fine line and i still have lots of hair in the back and sides of my head.

i think your 2nd question is talking about using the hairs that have been grafted to the top again somewhere else. I don't know the answer to that, but why would you want to remove the hairs from the top after you already had a surgery to put those hairs there in the 1st place? maybe you are asking if you can get more hair from the same donor place. if so then the answer is yes because my doc. did that when he removed the scar from my 1st surgery.

Lastly, my results are very good- way better than i had been led to believe when reading some of the blogs and such. you can't tell i have had transplants unless you look at pictures of me from 5 years ago when i had way less hair.

Hi, the donor follicles are transplanted from the back to the front. Just like if you were moving one plant from one spot to another, it will not grow where it used to be. That area is somewhat thinner than it was. I do non-surgical hair replacement. I have clients who have gone for the procedure and the plugs are doll like looking and very unnatural. I then cover a bit closer forward to cover the bad looking procedure. I imagine some places do better jobs than others but from what I have seen, these guys have paid big money only to cover it up in disappointment.

I don't know that you want to do hair transplants per se. I don't think they would look right. If you're insistant on having permanent brows without pencil, you should look into make-up tattoo. A lot of salons offer it and you won't have to pencil anymore. I know someone with her brows done and I didn't know til she told me. I also know people who have done their eyeliner and lipliner. Check at some nicer salons in your area.

OMG that is so sad. My husband is bald and started going bald when he was 18. he had to take some meds when he was growing up that severely messed him up. After his break up with his high school sweetheart (had to do because she was EMBARRASSED OF HIM) he shaved his head.

You may not like this suggestion, but I'm going to offer my advice anyway. Shave your head. I understand this idea may seem ridiculous to you at first blush, because so many women derive much of their esteem from having a full head of hair. girls don't look good with shaved heads and you can't do that anyways because you scar from the surgery will show. i did a hair transplant and am very happy with the results after one surgery. before i did the surgery i used to use a product called topik you may want to look into. it is sort of like a powder that you match to be the same color as your hair. you kind of sprinkle it over your head and it hides your scalp underneath, which is the reason your hair looks thin (when you see the scalp through the hair). try it- its a good option if you don't want to do another surgery.

Well my dad got it done here in the US, and what they did was cut some of his hair from the bottom back and then one by one start putting each hair into your scalp, forming the hair line you want (This is going to sound groose, but it's how they really do it. They poke your scalp with all these little holes and put one by one). My dad just got it on the front sides. He said it was very painfull, and he has blonde hair so at the begining you cant really tell he got it done baecause the hairs are really short, but in a couple of weeks you will notice the diference, that hair will get longer and start taking form. It looks very good if you ask me lol you would never know he had that done. About the price I am not sure, but for sure it is not cheap!

I have had this done...so i need to update my avitar...lol....it is expensive, but these days they are able to graft one hair follicle at a time instead of clumps like you see in older films. If it is alopecia areata (male pattern baldness) then the hairloss cannot be fully cured in most cases,

but just frozen for some time with the treatments availiable on market today.
